Who | Bradley Langdon
Where | Montréal, Canada
Current Bar | Cloakroom Bar
Past Bar(s) | Stilllife, Restaurant Mais/Parasol, Bishop and Bagg, Restaurant Robin Square, Kabinet, The Emerald/Le Bar Sans Nom
Favourite Spirit | It’s really a toss-up between Bourbon, Gin, and Tequila. They’re all winners in my books.
Favourite Juice | Lemon; it’s by far the most useful.
Favourite Classic Cocktail | Vieux Carré
Favourite Part of the Job | Finding the flow on a busy night and doing the dance. There’s no feeling like it.
Favourite After Work Drink | A cold, blond beer.
Favourite at Home Drink | A cold, blond beer.
Favourite bar in the world | Grumpy’s Bar (Montréal)
Best known for | It depends who you ask and also in the context of which job I was at, but probably balancing spirit-forward cocktails.
Favourite “at work” memory | Serving Margaritas to Ben Stiller at Mais. He was super nice and said that he really enjoyed the drinks. He had more than one, so I believe him.
What do you collect? Bitters. They don’t always stick around for long, but I have about 28 on my bar right now.
Favourite thing about your city? Pre-pandemic I could say that it was the laissez-faire attitude, and how you could feel the community cohesion. I don’t think that is missing now, but it feels overshadowed by current circumstances.
What was the last photo that you took? 2 of my 5 cats, they were snuggling. But if you asked me yesterday or tomorrow, the answer would most likely be the same.
Where is one place that you have never been but would like to travel to? Norway. I have Norwegian roots and would love to taste a proper Akevitt that we can’t get here in Quebec.
Any claims to fame? Once I copyright my cat-themed cocktail menu, I’ll update this section, but it will include such titles as “Moscow-meowl”, the “Chat-reuse sour”, and the Paw-paw Hemingway daiquiri”.
Prosecco or Cava? Cava is what I prefer to use, Prosecco is useful too.
Angostura or Peychaud’s? Angostura. Still love Peychaud’s though.
Singapore or San Francisco? San Francisco. I only say that because I’ve been to S.F. and really enjoyed it, but I’d love to see the tree-city Singapore architecture in person.
Grapefruit or Pineapple? Although I can appreciate the versatility of Pineapple, my heart goes with grapefruit.
Are you available for freelance gigs? Yes. A friend and I had a bar catering business for 2 years (Taillon, Langdon & cie.), and although it didn’t work out in the long-run, there were some excellent experiences.
