Cocktail: M Train | Bartender: Josh Lindley

Patti Smith has aged into the truly remarkable storyteller and poet we always, she always, knew she would. In her 2015 book M Train she reflects on her life and the lives of her favourite writers and poets while sipping on coffee. Sometimes the coffee is great and the setting is lacklustre. Other times it is vice versa. She visits many locales and each cup of coffee brings on a new memory or idea. This cocktail will feel like you are gazing through the window of a cafe, thinking about Patti Smith. Or maybe thinking about Patti Smith thinking about Jean Genet.

2 oz Lot 40 Rye Whisky
1 oz Kahlua
0.5 oz Dry Vermouth

Combine all ingredients in mixing glass. Fill with ice and stir for 25 seconds. Strain into absinthe-rinsed cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.
