Cocktail: Gracious Intent | Bartender: Laura Reidy

Gracious Intent was born from my working in hospitality, working as an American Sign Language Interpreter, and traveling the world. When someone doesn’t speak the same language as you how you approach the situation can have a lasting impression on the guest experience. Having a Gracious Intention and approaching with kindness is imperative. The smallest gesture can make the biggest difference. In this cocktail the smallest ingredient, black lava saline, makes the biggest difference and enhances the overall experience.

Cocktail: Gracious Intent | Bartender Atlas

1.5 oz BACARDÍ Cuatro
0.5oz Dry Vermouth
0.5 oz Citrus Simple Syrup*
2 Dash Cherry Bitters
6 Black Lava Saline Drops**
Black Lava Salt Rim

In mixing glass combine BACARDÍ Cuatro, Dry Vermouth, Citrus Simple Syrup and Cherry Bitters. Add ice and stir until chilled. Serve up in a glass with a partial Black Lava Salt Rim. Once in glass add 4-6 drops Black Lava Saline.

*Citrus simple syrup – add equal parts sugar and water. Bring to a boil. Stir until all sugar dissolved. Take off heat and add the zest of one full orange and one full lemon while liquid cools. Keep the zest in for 1 hour. Strain out into a bottle. Ready to use. Store in the fridge when not in use.

**Black Lava Saline – equal parts black lava salt and hot water. Shake/stir until salt is dissolved. Keep in eyelet dropper for easy use.

Laura Reidy
I’ve been working in hospitality for more than half my life. No two days are the same and I like it that way. I’ve worked my way up from host to Bar Manager currently working at APL in Hollywood. I have an extreme passion for all barrel aged spirits especially whisk(e)y. When I’m not behind the bar I can be found either working as an American Sign Language Interpreter or playing with my English Bulldog.
