I know for sure that a lot of bartenders long to make a modern classic style drink, and this was my first successful attempt at it. I first made it with Quebranta Pisco back in Edinburgh. When I moved to Winnipeg and started working at a distillery making largely unfiltered vodka, and limited to a tasting room license, it was a decent alternative base (ya can’t really get Peruvian Pisco here!). Anyway… a tall drink with tropical stylings. I’ll bet any unaged, flavourful spirit base (eau de vie!) would work wonderfully.
1.5oz Quebranta Pisco
1oz lime juice
0.5oz Luxardo Maraschino
0.5oz orgeat syrup
3 dashes Peychaud’s
Soda
Shake the first five ingredients with cubed ice. Fine strain into an ice-filled Collins glass and top with soda. Garnish with an (ideally dehydrated) lime wheel and a sprinkle of pink peppercorns.
