A note from Bartender Atlas: We are always trying to come up with fun ideas to keep our bartenders engaged and this time it was through a cocktail challenge. Our bartenders were asked to create a cocktail called Six Inch Heels and the only caveat was that this cocktail had to include Cognac. For every cocktail submitted in this challenge, we donated $5 to Maggie’s Toronto. One winning cocktail was chosen which is shared here. Congrats to Aviva!
I was drawn to participate in this contest to support Maggie’s Toronto and the work that they do for sex workers in this city. Sex work is work and is within the umbrella of the hospitality industry and yet it continues to be stigmatized, leaving people at risk of harm and many workers in this industry did not have the same access as the rest of the hospitality industry to resources or financial aid in the past year with all of its many challenges so this organization is truly essential! This cocktail is an ode to the strong, glamorous and multifaceted humans I know and love who are sex workers and also an ode to every burlesque performer, drag queen, stripper and go go dancer spending our tip money at the bar after a night of fancy dancin’ in six inch heels! It’s a sweet , smooth and strong sipper. Please enjoy!
