Bartender Atlas: Mirko. Where were you born?
Mirko Maurello: I was born in Florence.
BA: Born and raised in Florence?
MM: Born and raised in Florence, then I moved abroad for five years.
BA: Where do you work now?
MM: Giacosa
BA: And how many bars did you work at before Giacosa?
MM: Oh, 10 maybe.
BA: What’s your job title, or how would you describe what you do in the service industry?
MM: I’m the bar manager at Giacosa and I’m the head of mixology for the company.
BA: Where do you go out to eat and drink on your days off?
MM: I prefer to go to calm restaurants and drink in bars near my house. I’m really easy going when I go out for a drink.
BA: What do you do for fun on your days off that isn’t eating and drinking?
MM: I love being with my wife. And play PlayStation.
BA: What are you playing on PlayStation right now?
MM: Everything where I can shoot. Haha..
BA: What’s the best advice that you’ve ever received?
MM: No matter what happens, don’t give up.
BA: What’s something that you’re excited about?
MM: I’m excited about giving the pleasure guests get through our cocktails. I’m excited about seeing people that like what we make – not just with the drinks themselves but also all the vibes.
