Bartender Atlas: Where were you born?
Daddy Long Legs: I was born in Chicago, Illinois! I moved away when I was 19 and I’ve never stopped missing home. It’s been three years since my last visit there, but I am so eager to get back to my family, friends, and a good ol’ pour of Malort.
BA: What city do you work in?
DLL: Now, I live and work in the beautiful mountains of Salt Lake City, Utah. My experiences here have been both beautiful and heartbreaking, but I still find gratitude in it all.
BA: Where do you go out to eat and drink on your days off?
DLL: Eating and drinking out? In this economy! I’m much more of a homebody than most would believe. I love to cook as often as I can, but if I am going to go grab a bite anywhere in town, it’s Manoli’s or Eva. As for drinks, I’ve really been enjoying a new wine bar called Melancholy. Their selection is top tier, the vibes are immaculate and they have a full bar offering exceptionally curated craft cocktails.
BA: What do you do outside of work on your days off?
DLL: On my days off I like to journal, hike in the mountains, work on writing new songs and roller skate at the park. I’m fortunate to have a close knit group of friends here, so we get together and cook dinners, check out movies and play board games. Days off for me also means catching up on chores, reading good books, working on other projects and hitting the shops for my ever growing closet of curiosities.
BA: What is the best advice you have ever gotten?
DLL: The best advice I’ve ever gotten wasn’t given to me directly. It’s a saying that I’ve heard others use many times throughout my life. “Take what you need and leave the rest”. I apply it to almost every situation. It’s a reminder to be kind to myself and others; to pour into myself and the spaces and people that bring me joy. Whenever I am stressed or feeling down, this saying allows me to hold space for whatever it is that is troubling me while nudging myself to keep on going.
BA: What is something you are excited about?
DLL: I’m excited for 2025. I’m eager for growth and opportunities to connect with other creatives. 2024 went by in a blink. I hope this next year provides a bit more stillness. I’m also excited to keep putting myself out there and getting out of my head about my own projects and ideas.
